Since the only decision in Three Card poker a player has to make is how much they would like to bet, there isn’t really much strategy involved. But if you’re new to the game then it might be worth playing the Pair-Plus part of Three Card poker.
With Pair Plus all you have to do is compare your three card poker hand with the winning combinations and see how you’ve faired. You don’t get the opportunity to draw additional cards or raise your bet, all you have to do is hope for good luck! All you need is a pair to win. It doesn’t matter what the dealer has. If you have a pair, you’ll win. If you have better than a pair then you’ll win even more. Pair Plus is a simple and easy way for a new player to get to grips with the structure of the game.
The Ante bet is slightly different; you’re playing against the dealer and this is where the strategy comes in. If you have a winning poker hand, like a three of a kind of a pair, then your odds of winning the Ante bet are high and you should carry on playing. If you don’t have a winning poker hand, but you have a hand of Q-6-4 or higher then you should carry on playing. This is because poker hands are ranked according to the highest card, the second card, and then the third and the dealer needs a queen high in order to qualify.
As you can play either the Pair Plus or Ante bet in Three Card poker it makes sense to optimise both games together. This will help you maximise your winnings and hopefully minimise your losses.
