In order to add a twist to the usual tournament format the Bounty Tournament format was born. In these tournaments the prize pool is split between a bounty for knocking out each player and the standard payout system. A player receives a prize for knocking out a player. Sometimes players have to knock out multiple players in order to receive the bounty prize.
The way online poker rooms work out how many players have a bounty on them and the method for selecting these players varies from website to website.
There is usually still an overall prize pool for the best players as well as the bounty money – for example a $10 knockout might give $2 for each opponent knocked out while the remaining $8 is put into the prize pool.
