Poker Hands

Caribbean Stud poker has got far more popular over the last few years. A large portion of online casinos now offer this table game because it offers players a chance to make a side bet in order to win a progressive jackpot. This makes it ever more popular with the players and actually makes Caribbean Stud pretty unique as it was the very first casino table game to offer a progressive jackpot.

Caribbean Stud is a variation of regular five card stud poker. You are playing against the dealer in that your hand needs to beat the dealers hand in order to win.

The game will start with each player making an ante bet. Players also have the option here to make an additional side bet for the bonus jackpot.

Each player will then receive five cards face down. The dealer also receives five cards, but only four of his are face down. One is exposed for all the players to see.

Players then examine their cards and make the decision to either fold and lose their ante bet or to call and make an additional bet. This will typically be double the size of the ante.

After players have made the decision to bet or fold, then the dealers hand is revealed. To qualify the dealer needs to have a hand with Ace-King or better. If he doesn’t qualify then players are paid even money for their original ante and the second bet is a push. This means that it doesn’t win or lose.

If you’re lucky enough to find your hand beats the dealer then you will be paid even money for your ante bet and your call bet is paid according to the following:

– Royal Flush100 to 1
– Straight Flush 50 to 1
– Four of a Kind 20 to 1
– Full House 7 to 1
– Flush 5 to 1
– Straight 4 to 1
– Three of a Kind 3 to 1
– Two Pairs 2 to 1
– One Pair 1 to 1
– Ace-King 1 to 1

If you bet on the progressive jackpot then the dealers hand has no impact whatsoever on whether or not you win. So long as you made the bet and have an eligible hand you can win it!
