Is Rush Poker at Full Tilt actually any good?

Read more Poker Commentary and rules at the Poker SkoolOnline Poker is such a fast paced industry that there is one “revolution” or another every few months! So after all the hype over Full Tilt Poker’s new Rush Poker feature, we review if it is worth the accolade that it “has the potential to change poker forever”.

Firstly if you have been living in space for the last month and do not know what Full Tilt’s Rush Poker is here is a quick rundown:

In a snap shot here is how Rush Poker Works. Basically you play in a pool of players rather than select 1 or multiple tables. All elements of game play are the same as normal, however once you have folded your hand instead of waiting for the hand to end before you can play the next you simply get randomly selected to play in another hand consisting of other players in the pool. Every hand has random allocations of the blinds and table position

So is this the revolution we have all been waiting for or like speed dating poker?

If you play lots of multi tables then I can definitely see the benefit of this new feature. It is possible to play around 5 hands per minute equating to around 300 per hour. Playing volume at this rate can be very confusing using traditional multi-tables.

“Less Haste, More Action”

However some may wonder if the spirit of poker is lost in this fast food approach.

One of the few downsides of rush poker is that you lose all connections to the previous hand once you fold. There are lots of situations where you’d like to see what the other players had. One of the key distinctions of poker compared to other online casino games is the element of psychology involved.

The frequency of hands and the randomness of opponents mean it takes a longer to pick up individual reads in pool play, but it’s not impossible. One tip I have read is to write a note and tag them. Online notes will stick to a player handle for eternity. The regular Rush Poker Players will become apparent over time.

Players should also regard a change in play. We found that most players play a lot tighter than usual very few enter pots with weak or speculative hands. Combat against hands such as pocket aces and kings were common, so it’s a good idea to play smart and avoid chaotic engagements unless you can beat such hands after the flop.

Of course the increased number of hands per hours will also result in paying a higher amount of rake over time. The simple solution is getting a Full Tilt Rakeback Deal
