The latest buzz to hit the online poker community is the rumour of a new teen sensation who has swept the board at a number of European poker sites and now that he is 18 may want to reveal his identity. The legend has it that this young Portuguese player has turned €30 into over €2 million across a number of European poker sites. The rumour started when a new poster on popular forum Two Plus Two eponymously named Looking For Prodigy posted a thread looking to try and find this prodigy. From this point in the thread has been filled with ramblings, degenerative comments and a few jokes but one comment has set tongues wagging:

“I met Jose when he was a burgeoning high stakes player and I saw a lot of potential in him. The kid works harder at studying poker than almost anyone I know. I took him under my wing, and I’m gonna make him into a beast… watch out for him”

If this was written by anyone other than Daniel “jungleman12” Cates it is highly unlikely that this rumour would have any traction at all but when one of the most respected online poker players says watch out then the community inwardly holds its breath.

As yet there is absolutely no evidence that this Portuguese man of war actually exists and that this isn’t a massive ball-breaking exercise by Daniel Cates and his friends. If this is purely a wind-up then it is a very elaborate one and one that has really captured the imagination of a poker community searching for a new Isildur1 who has been revealed as Viktor Blom and who has sold out to PokerStars.

When more information is released regarding this young phenom known as Jose we will let you know. At this stage it is all fluff and bluster but once some facts and graphs and records come out then maybe we  can see if Jose is the future of poker.
