This weekend saw some fast a furious action on the highest stakes online poker tables with familiar faces posting familiar successes and a few famous faces spewing money all over the tables. In action this weekend were Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Cole South and the new durrrr challengers of Tom Dwan and Dan “jungleman12” Cates.

In the second instalment of the durrrr challenge on Full Tilt Poker following the slow demise of the first, jungelman12 has taken a huge lead over Tom Dwan in the last week. There have now been over 6,000 hands played in three separate sessions with Cates coming out on top by a wide margin already. The man from the jungle has won 61% of all the hands played and is now up by $692,400. The early signs are not good for Dwan as he puts up $1.5m to his opponent’s $500k. Some respite was found when he won the largest pot of the session yesterday with a set of 10s scooping $131k.

Elsewhere on the high stakes tables Danish pro Gus Hansen was having a horrible time. He lost $1.1m over the weekend against Phil Ivey and Cole South. Ivey finished up $678,760 whilst South pocketed nearly half a million. Hansen is now down by over $2.3m since the start of 2010.

In the big online poker multi table tournaments Preetoon smashed up the PokerStars Sunday Million for a bankroll boosting $232,362, whilst Leopold Chow cooped the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guarantee for $90,811 with Steve McNally coming second for $98,471 (that’s not a misprint – they chopped it up three way before Chow made a big move to win the tournament).

Zachary Clark reached the final three in the Absolute Poker $100k guarantee and pocketed $18,218 for his hours at the virtual tables. Joe Serock who cashed four times at the World Series of Poker outlasted 2,578 players to take down the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl for over $100k.

The high stakes online poker tables have been brimming with action in August as all the top stars have returned to their computers from the World Series of Poker. Players like Tom Dwan, Phil Galfond, Daniel Negreanu, Ilari Sahamies and Patrick Antonius have all been very active along with the thorn in Dwan’s side Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer.

Dwan has had a momentous year already on the tables winning nearly $5m this year including a hugely successful August which has seen him nearly reach the $1m mark for the month before losing some big pots to Palmer who has proved to be the online poker stars’ nemesis.

Ilari Sahamies suffered some serious damage at the start of this month losing over $600,000 in one weekend and posted on his blog that he would be quitting the high stakes for the rest of the month. After the last few days showing he will wish he had followed through in his promise. He has managed to drop a further $170k to Phil Galfond and Patrik Antonius.

Antonius has been trailing badly in the durrrr challenge and is now down nearly $2m against Tom Dwan and is set to lose another $500k when the challenge is complete unless he can perform a swing the likes of which is very rarely seen at these levels.

Another Scandinavian in a lot of trouble is Dane Gus Hansen who has had a horrible August dropping $1m in total with losses to almost everybody at the high stakes these players favour. The Full Tilt tables have been thriving recently and even Phil Ivey has been seen enjoying the action away from the Phil Ivey Room at the Aria.

The seventeenth edition of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series has four more events than last time around largely caused by the increase in the number of Rush Poker Tournaments. Hopefully you are now well-practised in this new form of the game following our Rush Poker Freeroll and strategy guide. There will be six Rush Poker Tournaments in FTOPS XVII compared to only three last time around.

In addition to all the prize money on offer every player that makes a final table will collect a limited edition Full Tilt Poker jacket. If you live in the Northern hemisphere, the sun will soon be drawing lower and winter setting in so it’s a pretty good bonus to take along with the huge boost to yoru bankroll.

For the player who comes out on top in the FTOPS XVII Leaderboard there are also a couple of awesome bonuses. Not only will they receive a custom-designed avatar to use on Full Tilt Poker they will also enjoy free entry into every tournament at FTOPS XVIII (except the two-day event).

Congratulations to our final table:

XAHT-MAHC

Deralte71

BigBelle

AAChipMagnet

JayJayAM

Ctrigg24

PetrovichCH

ZEO16

Ezh777

These brave nine managed to work their way through a field of 204 participants who were all drawn to the excitement of a Rush Poker Tournament. Huge congratulations to XAHT-MAHC and Deralte71 who went heads up with Deralte71 slipping into second place for a very satisfying $82.50.

The beauty of a Rush Poker Tournament is that you, the rakeback player, get the same number of hands per blind level as you would in a regular tournament but because of the Rush feature you are able to see these hands much faster and with such a progressive blind structure tournaments are over far quicker. You will play a very similar number of hands to win a Rush Poker Tournament as you would a regular tournament but in the speed of a turbo tournament.

Being able to play so many more tournaments will help boost your revenue if you maintain your Return on Investment. It’s not rocket science but it will certainly help your bankroll.

One of the most popular TV poker shows, the Million Dollar Cash Game sponsored by Full Tilt Poker is to continue for another three years at least as Full Tilt Poker have announced their sponsorship will continue for three more years.

The Million Dollar Cash Game is extremely popular in Europe with some of the big stars from the United States and all over the world competing at the highest level at some truly nose-bleed stakes. The minimum buy-in has been traditionally $100,000 and this is unlikely to come down any time soon.

The show is broadcast by Sky Sports and D:SF along with the Poker Channel across Europe. The weight of the stars combined with the stakes they play at make this one of the most watched poker shows of all time with records set for televised pots.

Last year’s show saw Tom Dwan one of the online poker generation rake a huge pot from the master himself Phil Ivey for $1.1m and the biggest pot ever won on television. Previous players in the Million Dollar Cash Game have included: Gus Hansen, Patrik Antonius, Chris Ferguson, Allen Cunningham, Tony G, Mike Matusow and of course Tom Dwan and Phil Ivey.

This year’s Million Dollar Cash Game will again be held in London on the 8th and 9th September. This marks another great chapter of poker in England in September with the English Poker Open, the World Series of Poker Europe, the WPT London Poker Classic and EPT London all within a month of each other.

The biggest stars from the poker world will be over playing in these great tournaments and we still have packages available for the English Poker Open.
After the excitment of the Full Tilt Rush Poker Week, many players have been left wanting some more action.

“Our Freeroll is open for anyone to enter not just Pokerrakeback players, although you will have to have a Full Tilt Poker account to play on their tables. And if you don’t have one then make sure you sign up through one of our links and recieve 27% rakeback for life!”

Rush Poker is particualrly popular with rakeback players as the sheer volume of hands that can be played in an hour is unvivalled. Therefore the potential rakeback earnings are much higher in this format of poker.
